Shadow

Well, it has been a long time since I have posted, almost a full month. I don't have much time today so I will just tell you about a little treasure I found while camping.

We were unloading the van to set up camp and I saw a large mussel shell at the edge of camp. I picked it up and turned it over. There was a dead butterfly in it. Its wings were folded, as if it were resting. It was a swallowtail, black with tinges of metallic blue. Even in death it was beautiful, so delicate and fragile. As I turned the shell to get a better look it fell out and fell apart. What was left was lovely though. In the pearly interior of the shell was the shadow of the butterfly. Its dusty little wings left a perfect silhouette. It was one of those moments that are special to me, as if God is showing me something. Do you ever call to your children, come here look at this! That is what it made me feel like.

The shell got wet and the silhouette is gone. I brought it home anyway. I am going to keep it to remind me.

Love,
Shawna

Very cool story. I was just wondering what the chigger bites lessons were?
