Things are about to change around here! No, that is not a parental threat, it is a statement of fact. I am almost dizzy thinking about all that is going on at this stage in our lives.
Barry starts back to college this next semester. He will be taking Spanish I, medieval History and US History I. We are excited and a little nervous. I am glad he is going back but we are both a little nervous at the impact it will have on our family life. We are going to try to sit down and make out a family schedule. His time has never been scheduled before, but now it will be to make sure he has study time blocked off.
I am brushing up on my math so I can help the girls since he won't be as available as the math teacher. I took the Saxon placement test last night. It has been a while. I placed in Algebra 1/2. Stinky fractions! I skimmed the first 14-18 chapters and took the first two tests last night and did well but fractions are next so I had better actually do those. I hope to take a couple of classes myself this next summer and my whole here and there college career I put Algebra off so I hope this refreshes me and I can take it in the summer. Things are still chugging along otherwise. Work, Girl Scouts, BGMC and life in general all seem to get worked in, even though I am not quite sure how at times!
Nicole is busy, busy, busy with homework. She has a hands-on project to turn in tomorrow for her Ancient History class. She is preparing a Greek meal including: Spanakopita (think Hot Pocket-only better-spinach & feta filling in phyllo!), Horiatiki (Greek salad with feta, tomatoes, bell peppers, olives, cucumber, onions, garlic, olive oil and oregano!), Bakery bought Baklava and sparkling red grape juice. It is a tasty project.
Bethany is all about Hallelujah Night the past couple of days. She has been trying to decide between two dresses. Oh, the stress! She had her first "Algebra" math problem today.
h x 2 = 4 +12. When she opened her notebook and saw that she about fell out. It was so easy and she did just fine, but she was anticipating much worse.
Audrey had a fun weekend. We finally had her much awaited birthday party at the Nature Center. She had two little friends and her cousin. They are all between 18 months and 3 and they had the best time. They were all about the displays since they are hands on. They checked out everything. Bekah came and took some really cute pictures. There is a giant bluebird house that the kids can actually get into and we have them peeking out the entrance. We had a picnic by the lake after giving the girls time to explore a while. That all went well-except I forgot silverware! We had sandwiches, baked beans and potato salad that we ate with chips. It was tasty even with the unusual utensils.
I had better come to a close. I have a very sleepy three year old to put to bed. Hopefully I will be tucking myself in soon also!
Best wishes and love,
Shawna
